... I can play. Well may be not. But I got asked to stand in on a few sessions this last week and next week (except I can't do next week). So I've done Tuesday, Friday and Sunday this week just gone. Some of it's been really good (most of it) but today's Junior B(?) group were hard work. There are a couple of lads (12-14) who are just in the age for pratting about and challenging authority.
I think I did okay - because I didn't go shouting at them (though I really wanted to). One I had to have a quiet word with along the lines of two choices: (a) go into the end lane with the girls... or (b) shut up and start behaving or you can get out and sit on the side until your mum comes. He opted to kind-of shut up. He spent a lot of the rest of the session being sulky-little-boy, his mate also tried that line as well. But his mate actually decided to respond to praise and work a bit harder. I was quite worn out at the end!
The best sesison was Friday night when there were only two Junior A, both 9-year-old girls, both really good swimmers, both eager to please and swim well. A true dream.
